I have SPD along with my autism, and I am 43 years old, so maybe I can help to give answers to your questions.
I often talk about sensory things on my blog Inside the Autism Experience. I hope the posts help!
And, please, do ask me a question, and…
When the way a person interprets or processes information from their senses interferes with learning and daily routines, it is considered Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).
My life revolves around it and limits it. I'm in Sensory Integration Therapy and I'm finding that it is helping. Gradual exposure is good too. On the other side of the coin is the euphoria of super-soft tagless clothes and beautiful-smelling lotions and perfumes.
About Me:
I have High-Functioning Autism, (otherwise known as Asperger Syndrome), OCD, and Sensory Processing Disorder, otherwise known as Sensory Integration Disorder/Dysfunction. I'm a weighted blanket maker. I tried many weighted blankets that weren't just right, so I invented my own and it feels great.
