We've definitely seen improvement with OT. We were also helped by Tomatis, chiropractor, accupuncture, therapeutic horseback riding... We've found with our son that things help especially for the first two wks, then it seems like they backfire and we have to try something else. Now we're using the cd's from REI institute. That's been helpful with his mood. Exercise like tennis and ping pong have been great. I think we've learned to trust our son's judgement when he needs to do something, eg. he'll say "i need a sword fight," and we'll run downstairs and whack at each other with swim noodles! Tactile defensiveness remains our biggest challenge! We just keep trying different things. brushing seemed to agitate him... The miracle belt was better for us than weighted vests or compression vests, but we did have to line it with fleece. Weighted blankets were helpful at one time, but not now, though we will try again... going to sleep at night is another ongoing issue... We've tried melatonin, and various relaxing cd's. Hope this helps. Our son is very extreme with all his senses! Liza

How do sensory disorders affect your life?

I have a son (4yo) with Sensory Processing Disorder. He is tactile defensive, which makes dressing a very big challenge for us, and affects his behavior at school.
