When the way a person interprets or processes information from their senses interferes with learning and daily routines, it is considered Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).
Children who have tactile defensiveness are sensitive to touch sensations and can be easily overwhelmed by, and fearful of, ordinary daily experiences and activities.
This is a group for the adults with SPD. This is a group to share how SPD affects your life, getting a diagnosis, your OT needs if you have them, what you do to keep up with your needs and anything else you want to share!
i just had an eval done. my days were getting worse, despite therapy and meds. i NEED this to stop, and thought, ok.. what's the missing piece? i mean, it's pretty bad, to be driving along, and then when a leaf blows across the street, i jump out of my skin. now... i don't have any cognitive thoughts about leaves, like "watch out for them scawy leaves now!" it's pure reaction. i'm to the point that any stress is "run for your life" stress, with no reasonable gradations. The eval appointment, and the first skin brushing brought about my first feeling of real, actual hope for actually living my day manageably.
About Me:
right now, i'm tired. fried crispy. more later.
